Coronavirus information and FAQs about Indianapolis, IN

The current Marion County Public Health Order states that Marion County mandates certain restrictions:

  • Residents are required to wear face coverings in indoor public spaces, and in outdoor public spaces where social distancing is not possible. Exceptions to this requirement are listed in the MCPHD Public Health Order, found here.
  • Bars may operate at 25% indoor capacity, 100% outdoor capacity and must close between the hours of 12 am and 5 am daily. 
  • Restaurants may operate at 50% indoor capacity, 100% outdoor capacity, and must close between the hours of 12 am and 5 am daily. 
  • Gyms and fitness centers may operate at 25% capacity.
  • Shopping malls and retail stores may open with 75% capacity in stores and 50% capacity in common areas. 
  • Playgrounds parks remain open with social distancing in place.
  • Personal services such as tattoo parlors, nail parlors, and hair salons must operate by appointment only.
  • Sports venues, entertainment venues, and cultural institutions such as museums may operate at 25% capacity beginning November 15.
  • Indoor visiting at nursing homes and assisted living facilities is permitted following social distancing guidelines.
  • Social gatherings must not exceed 25 individuals. 
  • Any event with anticipated attendance above 250 people, such as fairs/festivals, conventions, and sporting events, must submit an event plan for MCPHD approval.
